“The Coming Storm”
By Tom E. Quinn
I can feel it. I don’t need to be a weatherman, on the news or from the underground to see the clouds that are gathering. You must be deaf, dumb and blind to not see what is coming. I’m not a right wing ‘neo-con’, bible totin’ whack job either. Hell, I don’t even know what a “neocon” is! I’m not a Nostradamus follower. I’m just a 50 something year old American male that has been to the top of the mountain. A mountain that is crumbling under my feet.
For 240 years the United States of America has stood for one thing; freedom. A word that has a value. That value - priceless. Freedom due to vigilance of men and women that gave their lives to set an example, a standard that can never be equaled. From Valley Forge to Kandahar, Americans have fought and died for the single purpose of freedom. Today we find ourselves losing our freedom. Not too a foreign power, but to our own selfishness.
In the last Century, the United States of America, nearly single handedly defeated German Fascism (and Japanese imperialism simultaneously), prevented the ‘domino-effect’ of Communism in Asia, defeated Communism of Che, Castro and the Soviet Union, and defeated (that’s right, I said it) Al Quida in the new millennium. Yet, the American mountain is shaking.
On 4 January, 2011, Mohammed Bouazzizi was a 26 year old vender from Tunisia set himself on fire to protest his government’s confiscation of his goods. The street says he was ‘humiliated’ by a female municipal official. Clouds gathered over Tunisia, the Arab Spring began and you see the results today. As a student of history, I see this singular event as being very similar to Archduke Ferdinand’s assassination in Serbia that led to World War I. The fact that the Radical Islamic terrorism continues and in fact, is just a manifestation of the failed “Arab Spring” is lost on Western media. Fires make for good video, but it is the works of very bad men that stoke the flames. You can be assured the government is not confiscating their goods.
Now the fires of repressed men glow in America. The people that light the fires are ignorant of the men that fan the flames. The chains of bondage that held black men in the 1860’s have been replaced by government chains and token handouts from billionaires that have made the protestors uninformed pawns in a much larger chess match.
The only thing that can defeat freedom in the United States of America is the failure of American courage. Dear readers, we have achieved this state in 2016. Our borders are being overrun, our language (of freedom) is being restricted and our culture destroyed, not by invading armies, but by ‘social justice warriors’ and politically correct narcissist. We have not succumbed to nuclear holocaust. We have merely opened our check book paying taxes to people that spend them on nothing we voted for, thereby stealing the liberty of countless future generations.
We’ve spent close to ten trillion dollars in the last seven years and there is no resolution to terrorism, our infrastructure is crumbling, we have 95 million Americans no longer working, nearly 50 million on government support and the administration is trying to bring more refugees inside our borders. Shouldn’t we fix our problems before we take on more?
The current discussions of political discourse and determining which political party’s’ candidate gets to wear the crowd makes for eye-rolling voyeurism, but it will not solve our problems. I could care less if Nancy Pelosi doesn’t want to sit next to a Republican. DJT’s latest foot in mouth is nothing but distraction from fact. This is all distraction from the big picture.
As the main stream media throws softball questions to Hillary, Americans sit at home glued to their TV’s to watch the Olympics, an entire generation of Americans sits somewhere, generally alone, addicted to technological gadgets that have absolutely no intrinsic value, nor ability to educate the minds of American youth. They will awaken some day to find their iPhones and their Wii’s don’t work because we don’t have any power. No power from that little ‘boxy thingy over on the wall’. Nor any power in the world. That American mountain is being shaken by a storm. When the storm comes, it won’t matter which President was paid for.
So dear reader, prepare for the storm. You see the clouds forming. You know how the story will turn out. Just remember, after the storm, comes the beauty of the new day.
Thank you for tolerating my rant and as always
Keep the faith,
Tom E.
